TheLamp Within
If I ask myself,
What shall I say?
I listen to the silence
Sleeping inside me.
Where did I lose myself,
And when?
I burn as a lamp—
My own flame within.
The past that has gone,
The future yet to come,
Are shadows that make us forget.
Only the present,
Living now,
Is the one truth—
Forever unfolding
For us, within us.
Unaware of the self,
We drift in the sky,
Blind to the earth
That holds our steps.
What lamp can shine
Without its oil?
With butter in our hands,
We still chase ghee afar.
Entangled in desires,
Caught in their nets,
We sacrifice to emptiness,
Running after victory.
Fearing change,
We bought changes,
Yet without knowing ascent,
We longed in restless hours.
What we lost in youth,
When found in age,
We fail to see it as the same.
Slowly, once again,
We lose it anew.
Life moves in circles,
Spinning endlessly
Within its vast orbit.
