**When We Both Parted…
— by Sakthi Sakthithasan
When we both parted…
Tears and silence
mingled together,
running down my cheeks
as lines of sorrow,
as mirrors of truth
— ah, my love —
when we both parted…
The passing years
stole the fragrance
of our flower-like bond,
letting it scatter
with the drifting winds…
My memories still speak
only in silence
whenever I recall that day
— yes, when we both parted…
Your name,
a lamp that never dies,
a light that never fades,
still flickers before my eyes…
Among people
who never knew
that I once knew you so deeply,
still I carry you
— yes, when we both parted…
Knowing yet unknowing,
understanding yet confused,
with every throb
of my restless heart,
our separation’s shadows
gather and settle…
Who would ever know this?
Even I cannot fully grasp it
— yes, when we both parted…
The joys of yesterday
no longer live in today;
the emptiness of tomorrow
burns within my chest…
That ache,
that silent ache,
was born
when we both parted.
Through the window of memories,
your laughter still echoes —
that sound, that glow,
piercing through
the darkness of my nights
when we both parted…
On the fading pages of time
our story may dissolve,
yet on the pages of my soul
you stand immortal,
ink that cannot disappear
when we both parted…
In the vast sea of silence,
your name rises as waves
and breaks upon the shore
of my weary heart,
spreading like sands of sorrow
when we both parted…
Through drifting shadows,
your face still glimmers
like an untouched moon,
shining in my eyes
and embracing
the nights of my life
